Professional Services Marketing Veteran Launches Solo Firm
Having served in-house at some of the largest and most elite law firms in the world, Mark Roy launches Breakthrough Consulting Group LLC, an executive coaching and consulting firm.
NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2020—Marketing and communications executive Mark Roy today announced the launch of his independent executive coaching and consulting firm, Breakthrough Consulting Group LLC. Prior to launching his own firm, Roy was most recently Media Relations Director at Duane Morris LLP.
“I’ve focused on professional services marketing and communications almost exclusively for the past decade and a half,” Roy said. “As I climbed the rungs of the leadership ladders at various firms, it became clear to me that while the people charged with bringing in business had extraordinary technical skills, the vast majority of them lacked leadership and business skills. Breakthrough Consulting Group helps bridge those gaps.”

Prior to launching Breakthrough Consulting Group, Roy held leadership roles in the marketing departments of five Am Law 100 firms, including two of the ten largest law firms in the world. Prior to his role at Duane Morris, Roy led the communications team for the $3.5 billion global Legal business unit of Thomson Reuters and later served as Vice President, Business Communications Content for the entire $12 billion enterprise.
Roy graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.A. in Literature/Writing and Baruch College, City University of New York, where he earned his M.B.A. He later received executive coaching training from Columbia University, and he is certified by Rutgers University in partnership with global executive search and consulting firm Heidrick & Struggles in Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance.
