(New York, September 8, 2021)—The WNET Group announced today that Breakthrough Consulting Group’s founder, Mark Roy, is joining the organization as its Director of Communications effective September 9, 2021.
In addition to continuing to serve select clients as their executive coach and consultant, Roy will be responsible for shaping The WNET Group’s institutional messaging and developing efforts to inform and engage its employee, trustee and funder base, as well as creating strategic communication plans and supporting infrastructure to advance The WNET Group’s business objectives.
Roy has been a marketing and communications professional for more than two decades. He first honed his skills in the publishing industry working with emerging talent and bestselling authors. Later, he helped make history in the nonprofit sector while leading public relations campaigns for marriage equality lawsuits across the country. More recently, Roy has led communications teams for global professional services firms and for a global division of a media and technology company. He has effectively positioned brands ranging from hundreds of millions to several billions of dollars in annual revenue and hundreds to more than 50,000 employees around the world. In addition to his career in marketing and communications, Roy has worked with business leaders and their teams as a certified executive coach and consultant.
An active member of the community, Roy currently serves his communities as a Fellow Member, Institute of Coaching, at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School affiliate; a founding member of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark’s Commission for Peace and Justice; and an Associate of the Order of the Holy Cross.
Roy graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.A. in Literature/Writing and he earned his M.B.A. at Baruch College, City University of New York. He later received executive coaching training at Columbia University, and Roy is certified as a Leadership Coach for Organizational Performance by Rutgers University.
